Warm Weather Vibes

As I'm headed to the Caribbean in less than two weeks, I am seriously excited for some warm weather vibes! Don't get me wrong, by about June I am craving leggings and boots (and fuzzy socks...duh!), but right now I'm totally itching for some of these finds!

1 | I loooove this Parker beach cover up. I'm all about a sheer cover up with a caftan fit - easy to slip on, and let's people know you're headed to the beach/pool, not a restaurant. The bright white always embellishes your tan and the palm leaf print and mesh panels are perfect.

2 | I am usually a one pair of sunglasses kind of girl (my go-to's are classic Chanel cat eyes - similar here), but these pink mirrored Ray Ban aviators have been calling my name ! Aviators are such a classic beach look, and the pink adds a pop of surprise!

3 | Mikoh swimsuits are. my. jam. I have this Seychelles suit in turquoise, and the Xavier in black, and they are so fun! A bikini in the front, and party in the back! The rear is cut verrrrry small, as is the chest, so order a size or two up.

4 | I've been needing a great beach tote and I'm in love with this yellow straw bag with poms! The straw won't get damaged by water, and it's the perfect size to hold all the necessities - cover up, Kindle, towel, and sunscreen!

5 | Turkish towels are the ultimate versatile piece! Towel to dry you off, wrap as a sarong, cover up your bag from the sun or your phone from the water - not to mention super cute! This turquoise one is at the top of my list!

6 | I am not a heel girl, but I have my eyes on these Dolce Vita babies! I'm noticing this lace-up trend everywhere recently (ballet flats, anyone?), so these would be the perfect warm weather version! Dolce Vita wedges are historically incredibly comfortable (in my opinion!), and the nude color goes with everything!

Keep thinking warm thoughts! XOXO

Friday Favorites: Last One of January!

How is it already the end of January?! I honestly don't know where this month went, but I have to say, I'm glad to see it go. Ready for a new month with a lot to look forward to!

Linking up with Narci, Erika, and Andrea to share some of my favorites from this week!

ONE

Our wedding was featured not once (an online version of our magazine article/cover feature), not twice (our incredible photographer!), but THREE times (Snippet + Ink) this week! I will never, ever tire of looking at photos from the best day of our lives, and these little peeks into our day have brightened up my week in a big way! We had the most amazing vendors as well, and I'm so glad that they all got to have their work highlighted in these features. So very proud of them and grateful to them for sharing their talents with us.

If you're going to read one of them, I recommend the Snippet + Ink article, it gives such a great snapshot and backstory on our day!

TWO

GIRL SCOUT COOKIE SEASON IS UPON US! I always think it's pretty cruel that they do this in the beginning of the year when everyone is trying to diet/get healthy, but I've been pretty good about limiting myself to one or two cookies before bed each night. I can't say the same for my husband whose box of Samoas is already gone...

THREE

Please tell me I'm not the last person to know about this stuff?! When I was in Florida with my little back in November, I kept asking her mom what she used because her skin was soooo soft (I am that weird person who was totally rubbing her arms the whole time I was there - ha!) and she told me about this Eucerin In-Shower Moisturizer! While I was waiting for a prescription the other day, I spotted it and picked some up. Well let me tell you - I have only used it once so far and my skin is already super, super soft! I hate putting on lotion so this is probably my new lifesaver. Everyone needs this in their lives.

FOUR

Because this is something that I want to do more of this year, this is definitely one of my favorites! I checked my phone the other day to this sweet text from my cousin (because I was an only child until I was 14 and all of my cousins are older than me, they were basically my siblings growing up). Who doesn't want to get a random text with words of affirmation?! That is not my love language, but it sure as heck doesn't mean I didn't love and appreciate it! Hoping to spread more love and happiness like this sweet text did for me. Side note: the photo is of the Port Orleans Resort at Disney World where she was headed to get beignets - our favorite!

FIVE

When we first moved to our place, we found an adorable hidden wine bar in our neighborhood that we ended up joining as wine club members! In an effort towards being "intentional" this year, one of our ideas was to utilize our wine club more since we usually just go to pick up our monthly bottles! This week we ditched the meal plan (if you know me, this is a big deal) and went to our little wine bar for dinner and a bottle of on of our favorites - Orin Swift's "Abstract". We're going back again tonight with a friend and my heart is so happy that we're using this space more!

Hope you have a great weekend! Let's kick off February with a bang! XOXO

What's Up Wednesday: January 2016

I thought I'd try joining my first-ever link up with What's Up Wednesday hosted by some of my favorite bloggers: Shay, Shaeffer, and Mel! Here goes...

What We're Eating This Week...

One of my friends in high school started a blog called The Savvy Spoon where she shares delicious recipes, and one of her recipes last week was a Hummus Crusted Chicken! My hubby is obsessed with hummus, so I knew he would love this. The hummus ensures the chicken isn't dry, and it's so, SO good.

Another thing we're eating this week is this low-carb Cajun Chicken Spaghetti Squash from Wicked Stuffed - and let me tell you, this is wicked good. Joey has been insisting on this every week recently, and now that spaghetti squash season is almost over, we're trying to enjoy it while we can!

What I'm Reminiscing About...

#nofilter...for real.
I feel like I'm always reminiscing about our honeymoon! Yesterday was a stressful day, and my sweet husband told me to close my eyes and walked me through a visualization of our honeymoon. It was the most perfect, special, incredible trip and I'm dying to go back.

What I'm Loving...

The warmer weather recently! January was a cold month - both literally and figuratively, for us - and I'm ready for warmer weather come February. Although there's talk of a crazy El Niño coming our way at the end of the month, and I can't say I would complain over a couple of cozy, rainy days!

What We've Been Up To...

SO MUCH FOOTBALL! I feel like January has been a wonderful football month for our little family! My husband's alma mater - Alabama - won the National Championship, and our NFL team is headed to the SuperBowl! We're feeling good!

What I'm Dreading...

Next month I'll be gone for 14 days, and I'm dreading being away from my sweet husband! He has been such an amazing support system to me the past few weeks and I really can't imagine leaving him for so long. Whenever I book trips, I always think it won't be so bad to be away, and then once the time comes, I start feeling really sad about leaving him and I hate it.

What I'm Working On...

My 2016 goals! I'm hoping with my travel in the next few weeks I will make a huge dent in my reading list (any recommendations?), but I've been failing at a lot of the others...an update on that soon!

What I'm Excited About...

Our one year anniversary in April! We booked an anniversary trip a few weeks ago, and I can't stop daydreaming about the perfect getaway with my best friend! It is much needed!

What I'm Watching/Reading...

We've already been quite the binge watchers this year...we've started and finished both Homeland and Making a Murderer, and now we're re-watching one of our very favorite shows, Mad Men! It's so interesting to watch from the beginning again now that we know where all of the characters end up. It's such an incredibly written show. Plus...Don Draper. Enough said.

I'm also planning on re-reading Lara Casey's Making It Happen to kick-start the year. I've also heard amazing things about The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. I really really want to do a big purge of our closets and garage next month, so I hope this gives me the kick-in-the-butt that I need!

What I'm Listening To...

I am addicted to the Afternoon Acoustic playlist on Spotify! It's basically all of the current pop songs done acoustically. I personally am more fond of them than the originals!

What I'm Wearing...

Well, I'm of course wearing my fuzzy socks :) But other than that, I've been living in my Lululemon leggings lately. I have them in several colors and they're the easiest thing to slip on in the mornings - not to mention they make me feel cozy all day long!

What I'm Doing This Weekend...

On Friday, I'm going to happy hour with some girlfriends to kick off the weekend before a dinner & movie (thoughts on The Revenant??) with the hubs! Then enjoying a relaxing Saturday before leaving for Atlanta for work for the week on Sunday morning...

What I'm Looking Forward To Next Month...

My mom, sister, and I are going on a cruise next month, so I'm pretty excited about that! But at the same time, I'm also looking forward to the time that I'll be home with my boys. :)

What's up with you?!
XOXO

2015 Recap

How is it already the end of January?! Before we get too deep into 2016, I thought it'd be nice to recap our (very eventful) 2015 for my own personal memory bank.

2015 will always be one of my favorite years ever - it was the year I married my best friend, and the only man on this planet I would ever want to do life with. Doing life without him for a little while was not fun and I never want to do that again.

So, here's our 2015 in review!

January

2015 started with a bang! We celebrated NYE in Atlanta for my cousins' gorgeous wedding, came home to have two osteochondromas removed on my right knee, and ended it celebrating my Bridal Shower in crutches!

February

This was probably the most jam-packed month of 2015! It started with bachelor/bachelorette parties with our siblings: the fiancé took his brothers to the mountains, and my sister and I spent a weekend in Seattle together. For Valentine's Day, Joey surprised me with a weekend trip to NYC (I didn't know where we were going until I checked us in at the airport!) to see Elephant Man front-row, center with Bradley Cooper, the 9/11 Memorial, and my other half/little sis Elise! He's too good to me. We rounded out the month with our respective bachelor/bachelorette parties (I only have pictures from mine...hmmm): my amazing girlfriends and I celebrated in Napa, while J and his boys went to Las Vegas.

March

We signed the lease on our first home together - ever! - and celebrated with my family's tradition of eating your first meal on the floor. Of course it was Chipotle. From there, Joey went to Newcastle, England to celebrate our friend's Stag-Do (Bachelor Party) while I hosted his fiancée's Bridal Shower. Two days after he returned home, we headed to Nashville for our final wedding planning visit! We had our second cake tasting (...whoops), our food tasting (which is the only time I ever ate our wedding food), and buried a bottle of bourbon upside down to keep the rain away (which it did!).

April

The biggest and BEST month of all! I turned 26 with a slothy birthday party (aka movie marathon), went to Vegas for my bestie's Bachelorette, and flew to Nashville the next week for our WEDDING! We got married on the most perfect, beautiful day, and left the next morning for the beginning of our honeymoon at The Naka Island off of the coast of Phuket in Thailand!

May

On May 2nd we flew from Phuket to Koh Samui and had the most amazing stay at the Le Meridien there! Two weeks in Thailand was such an incredible and unforgettable way to start off our marriage and we talk about our honeymoon every single day - it was amazing! We came home (after an unexpected and fun layover with friends in Hong Kong!) and moved into our new place, Joey started a new job, and we celebrated the Mad Men finale by dressing up with our friends!

June

Our best friends got married and there was a British invasion for a few weeks which was so fun! We got settled into married life, our wedding photos came in (yay!), Joey's brother graduated from High School, and my baby sister got promoted from 6th grade and ended her Elementary School career!

July

I chopped off 17 inches (!!!) of hair and donated it, we celebrated the 4th of July with family and friends, celebrated birthdays, and spent a long weekend at one of our favorite places in the world - our family ranch in Sun Valley, Idaho!

August

August was a welcomed mellow month! We saw Kenny Chesney at the Rose Bowl with friends, Joey's little sister came to visit, we celebrated our friend's Doctorate, and marked our four-month anniversary with a Thai-themed date night - complete with Tiger beer!

September

My baby sister turned 13 and we celebrated with floor seats to Taylor Swift's 1989 Concert where I totally fangirled that Chrissy Teigen was in our section. We made one last trip to visit our friends while they were living in Temecula, went camping (my first time!) in Big Bear, made our first big purchase as a married couple - my new car! - quickly followed by our second biggest purchase - Cooper! Ryann started middle school at the school Joey and I met, football season started, and I took my annual trip to Baltimore for work.

October

October is always a busy month for us! We celebrated our 9 year dating anniversary at our favorite Italian restaurant - Sabatinos, took a trip to Tuscaloosa for the Tennessee game, celebrated Joey's birthday as Donald and Melania Trump at The Magic Castle in LA, and spent Halloween in San Diego! Another highlight of the month was the CdM Home Tour with my mama which we've been dying to do together for years!

November

We had an epic brunch date with friends, Elise and I spend a girls weekend in Palm Beach, we picked out our first Costanzo Christmas tree, and spent Thanksgiving with Joey's "new" family in New Jersey!

December

It wouldn't be December if it wasn't crazy! Our wedding was featured in - and on the cover of - Nashville Lifestyles Weddings Magazine, we decorated for Christmas, went down to San Diego to watch the Broncos play the Chargers with friends, hosted a small Christmas party at our house,  and went to Arizona for the weekend to visit my cousins before they were a party of 3 (!). The week before Christmas, Joey started a new job, and our family was surprised when Baby Grey was born a month early! We celebrated Christmas Eve with Joey's family, and Christmas day with my mom and sister, opening presents and going to the theater for a movie marathon! The year ended with a Tide win against Michigan State, and we had a low key New Years Eve because we started January 1 with a trip to Vegas to see Michael Buble!

2015, you were a great year, but a busy year! Looking forward to a slower, but just as exciting 2016! XOXO

Friday Favorites: My First One!

I've clearly been slacking on this whole blogging thing, so I thought Friday Favorites would be a great way to get back into it!

YAY for Friday! 2016 has been a crazy, challenging year so far, and this week especially has me SO ready for the weekend! We've got a pretty busy schedule, but I'm looking forward to time with friends and family.

Here are some of the things I've been loving this week:

ONE

I have two words for you: fuzzy. socks. If you know me, you know that I am a fuzzy sock freak. I also might be the only person who calls them fuzzy socks...anywho, I digress. It has been unnaturally cold for Southern California recently, which makes me feel like my fuzzy sock wearing is justified. Under my boots, around the house, these are all I wear. I know my hubby especially loves when I take my boots off in the TSA line (because I always forget to wear shoes without metal on them...TSA Pre-Check FAIL) to reveal multicolored fuzzy socks. It makes me look super grown up. :)

TWO

Barefoot Contessa's Easy Parmesan Risotto. This is my go-to meal (which my husband happens to hate...I'll never understand). It is SO easy to make and I usually top it with some pan-fried keilbasa. I could eat this for every single meal of my life.

THREE

These Rails tops. I got a stain on a shirt I was wearing last weekend while at my mom's house and decided to change into something of hers before we left the house and I found this Rails top. It's SO soft, so cute, and super flattering unlike some of the flannel print shirts out there that are really boxy. I definitely stole this top and don't plan on giving it back...sorry, Mommy!

FOUR

Acqua al 2. During my senior year of college, I took two weeks off and visited a friend who was studying abroad in Florence. While we were there, she introduced me to this restaurant and I fell so hard that we ended up there 3 times during my week-long trip. Last night, we went to San Diego to visit friends (which is the second of their three international restaurant locations!) and I got to indulge in my favorite house wine ever and their unreal balsamic steak. Now I have the itch to go back to Florence.

FIVE

AFC CHAMPIONSHIP TIME! The Costanzos are big Broncos fans, so we're looking forward to this game on Sunday! I'll be making buffalo chicken sliders and my favorite faux-tato salad to celebrate! Here's to the Superbowl!

Have a great weekend! XOXO

Cooper Rex: 6 months!

Bringing Cooper home.

We had no intentions of getting a dog. At all. We were walking around the mall (which we never do) and killing time when I had the brilliant idea to go into the pet store. Those were my last words.

The minute we walked in, I saw a chocolate lab and pointed him out to Joey (who was completely oblivious and looking at a Pomeranian). I should have known then it was game over. My husband has always wanted a chocolate lab, and he was in love immediately. We asked to hold him and he just curled up in our arms and was so sweet and mellow - especially for a lab! Joey got ahead of himself and asked what we should name him and I said, "Duh! Cooper! Cooper Costanzo! That's his name."

I immediately tried to correct my wrongs and told Joey we had to go pick up my sister from soccer practice and would have to leave. Instead I ended up leaving alone while Joey stayed behind with the pup, and when I returned with my sister in tow, we knew we couldn't leave this little guy.

And that's how we ended up with a dog.

The past 4 months with Cooper have been the best - filled with so much love and joy in our house. We're just so obsessed and in love with this little buddy!

So small!
Our Cooper is 6 months old today - yay, half-birthday! - and we think he's around 45lbs. He is a big boy who thinks he is a lap dog - always snuggling any chance he gets. Whenever we get home from work, he jumps 4 feet high with excitement, and then licks our faces all over! And once we're on the couch, there's no way we can get up because he must be draped on top of both of us at the same time.

He wants to be near us 24/7 and especially loves to follow me around the kitchen when I'm cooking (and no - he never gets scraps, he just likes being part of the pack!). If I stand in one place for longer than 30 seconds, he curls up on my feet like the picture above. It melts my heart every time.

We're not ready for our pup to become a big boy dog, but we are so happy he's ours!

2016 Goals

I've never been one for resolutions. If I've made them, I've never kept them. You don't even want to know how many years I have tried to read the Bible in one year...I basically know the book of Genesis by heart because that's as far as I've gotten. Every. Single. Time.

This year, the hubs and I decided that we weren't going to make resolutions, but goals instead. Achievable goals.

So, in an effort to keep myself accountable this year, here are my goals for 2016.

1. Go to church twice a month.

Last year was really chaotic for us, though our schedule should never be an excuse. We want to consciously make the effort to go to church more, and twice monthly seemed like a goal we could achieve this year.

2. Work out 3 times a week.

If you know me, you know I am the slothiest of sloths. I don't work out. The only working out I have ever done is cheerleading in high school, and a brief stint with pilates when we got engaged. We already have pretty healthy eating habits (Joey doesn't believe I can cook a fattening meal because I'm constantly subbing out for healthier options and never make a dinner over 450 calories...), so I want to try to be healthier in my lifestyle. Joey is really good about running and going to the gym, but I never fit those things into my schedule. Three times per week seems manageable to me.

3. Get my Real Estate license.

My husband is the AVP for a CRE Sales Firm, and we always fiddle with the idea of getting into residential investments, so the first step to that is getting my license! I may not do anything with it, but it will be fun to have just in case.

4. Read 30 books this year.

Combined, my husband and I read 44 books last year and I was pretty impressed. I think he read about 20 of them, which would have left me six books short of my goal for this year. I want to be more intentional about having quiet time with my Kindle and getting some reading in this year.

5. Save up to buy a house in July 2017.

We just renewed the lease on our townhome for another 17 months, which brings us to July 2017 at which point we would like to buy our first home! This year will be all about saving up and budgeting smartly so we can achieve this goal in the ridiculously expensive Southern California real estate market!

6. Be intentional: with our time, with our memory making & keeping, and with each other.

INTENTIONAL is our word for the year. We just want to make sure we are making the most of our time, and keeping this at the forefront of our minds when making plans and big decisions should help us to live a more meaningful, joyful life.

7. Make the people we love feel special.

I hate to admit that there are some things I am just terrible about and I think one of those things is making my friends and family feel special. I am not one to send birthday cards or gifts, or just call out of the blue, or send a note. I want to be better about that this year and let the people I love know how much they mean to me, even if I don't always show it.

Here's to achieving goals and making 2016 the best yet! XOXO

A New Year and an Introduction

We are officially head-first into 2016! With two of my resolutions being to be more intentional about keeping track of our memories and to find a creative outlet for myself, I figured starting a blog would be a great attempt to do so. So, without further ado, I feel like I should do a little introduction before I can get into that whole expressive/memory banking era of this blog.

I'm Megan!

I'm a newlywed (that still counts after 8 months, right?) to my high school sweetheart, Joey (he goes by Joe but I will never, ever call him that. EVER.), and we were married in the most beautiful wedding in Nashville this past April.

We live in Southern California, but our 9-plus year relationship has taken us from coast to coast. Starting in high school in Southern California, to long-distance between Nashville and Raleigh, to being together in Nashville, to long-distance between Nashville and Tuscaloosa, to long-distance between Tuscaloosa and Southern California, and finally, back together in Southern California - it's been a wild ride.

Prom '07
We recently brought home our first pup - Cooper! He's a chocolate lab who loves to snuggle his mama, play with his daddy, and make dinosaur noises in the mornings. We can't get enough.

Cooper does brunch.

I have an incurable travel bug. My friends are still trying to figure out how I traveled every single weekend during my senior year of college, took 3 weeks off to travel to Europe mid-semester, and still graduated on time. My husband and I travelled either together or separately every weekend for the first 5 months of 2015 straight, so we are trying to stay home more in 2016, while also satisfying our lust for travel everywhere and anywhere!

Honeymoon in Thailand.

I am seriously addicted to Coke Zero, which started as an addiction to original Coke stemming from my Grammy giving it to me in my bottle at 9-months-old. In high school I drank around 9-10 Cokes a day, and then switched to Coke Zero in college (mostly for caloric reasons, let's be honest), and now I have a few a week. My husband hates it (because he's basically convinced my insides must be complete mush by now), so I'm trying my best to stop.

We are SERIOUS about our football! I was born and bred a Florida Gator (my dad played there in the 80's), and I kept the SEC tradition alive by graduating from Vanderbilt, and then married an Alabama alum! Needless to say, our Saturdays are very busy in the fall, and the family rivalries are always fun...unless you're me. GO DORES!

Bryant Denny.
Other than my husband, my favorite two people in the world are my Mommy and my baby sister. They're my unit.

McTague girls.
And...my wedding vows included the words "slothiness" and "wine". I think that says it all.

Until next time! XOXO
